Certificates of proof
Issuing a certificate for an item, the public verification link, and how long certificates are kept.
2 min read
A certificate of proof is a formal document ELVOAQ issues for one of your items. It carries the item's identity, its photo, the date it was generated and a public verification link — so anybody you show it to can check it is genuine rather than taking a PDF at face value.
Before you can generate one
- The item needs at least one photo, so the certificate can include visual proof.
- You need edit access to the item — its owner, or a workspace member whose role allows editing.
- Certificates need a paid plan. Free accounts see an explanation instead of the button.
Generating a certificate
- 1Open the item and choose Certificate proof, or use the same action from the library's item menu.
- 2Choose whether to include the declared value and whether to include the acquisition date. Leave the value out if the certificate will be shown to people who have no business knowing what you paid.
- 3Press Generate certificate.
- 4Preview it, then Download / print it.
The certificate is stored on ELVOAQ with its verification link. Copy verification link and Copy certificate ID put either on your clipboard.
Verifying a certificate
The verification link opens a public page showing what ELVOAQ holds for that certificate ID. Nobody needs an account to check it, and the page shows only what the certificate itself contains.
Managing certificates
Certificates in the sidebar lists everything you have issued, with totals for active, archived and this month's usage. Search by item, sort by newest, oldest, item or status, and filter to archived ones.
Retention
In the certificates settings, choose how long records are kept: 30, 90 or 365 days, a custom number of days, or never delete. Delete archived clears the archived ones only; Delete all clears everything.
Important
Deleting a certificate breaks its verification link. Anybody holding a printed copy will find that it no longer verifies. Do not delete certificates you have given to buyers, insurers or auction houses.
