Value estimates
How ELVOAQ estimates what an item is worth, what confidence means, and how to make estimates better.
1 min read
Beyond what you paid, ELVOAQ can estimate what an item is worth now. The estimate appears on the item's detail view as a figure with a low and a high bound.
Confidence and basis
Every estimate is labelled with how confident it is — high, medium or low — and with what it was based on: the purchase price, the category, or the AI model itself. A low-confidence estimate from category data alone is a rough bracket, not a valuation.
Getting a better estimate
- Record the manufacturer. It is the single most useful field.
- Write a real description — model, year, materials, provenance, flaws.
- Set the condition honestly. Condition moves value more than almost anything else.
- Enter the purchase price and the purchase date, so the estimate has an anchor and a span of time to reason about.
- Add clear photos.
Then press Recalculate on the item. If it reports that there is not enough data, one of the fields above is still missing.
Trend
As estimates are recalculated over time, ELVOAQ builds a trend for each item — appreciating, stable or depreciating. You can filter the library by it, which is the quick way to see which parts of a collection are actually going up.
Important
An estimate is not an appraisal. Insurers, tax authorities and buyers want a professional valuation, and for anything genuinely valuable you should get one. Attach it to the item as a file so the two live together.
Which plans include it
AI value prediction is available from the Collector plan upwards. AI categorisation is on every plan, including Free.
