Price totals answers what is this lot worth, for any set of items you can describe. Open it from the sidebar.
Choosing what to add up
- Whole vault
- Everything in the current workspace.
- A category
- One category.
- A collection
- One collection.
- Picked items
- A hand-made selection. Search, tick what you want, and the count of picked items is shown as you go.
The settings
- Currency
- The currency the total is expressed in. Items in other currencies are converted at current rates.
- Tax basis
- Net or gross. This is set on the calculation itself, independently of your display preference, so you can produce a net total for an accountant without changing how the rest of the app looks to you.
- Include quantity
- Multiply each item's price by its quantity. Switch it on for stock, off when you want the value of each distinct item once.
- Include zero-priced items
- Whether items with no price count as zero or are skipped. When they are skipped, the result tells you how many were left out.
- Round per item
- Round each item before adding, rather than rounding the final total. Some accounting rules require one, some the other.
Save defaults keeps these choices for the next time, so a total you produce every month does not need reconfiguring.
The result
You get the net total, the VAT and the gross total, how many items were included, how many were skipped for having no price, and a per-currency breakdown showing what came from where before conversion.
Important
If exchange rates cannot be fetched, the calculation says so and uses the last known rates rather than failing silently. Treat a total carrying that warning as an estimate.
Saving a total
Give a calculation a name and press Save. Saved totals are listed with the settings and the moment they were produced, and Re-run recalculates against today's data and today's rates. This is how you keep a comparable figure month after month.
